CHLO-SITE
is the only gel with 1.5% chlorhexidine that is capable of assuring
both active and passive disinfection coverage at the site where it was
applied for up to two weeks. This is due to the high concentration of
chlorhexidine that is slowly released over a prolonged period of time
in the crevicular liquid and the chlorhexidine in the xanthan gel.
The chlorhexidine contained in CHLO-SITE
is released in a rapid and constant rate during the first 24 hours (approximately
34% of the total chlorhexidine), with concentrations greater than 100
µg/ml. This action continues for an average of 6-9 days with a
total release rate equal to 85% of the total amount of chlorhexidine
contained in CHLO-SITE.
After the 9th day, the presence of dihydrochloric chlorhexidine assures
a constant concentration that is efficient and microbiologically active
for an additional 7 days.
