Bone augmentation material based on active hydroxyapatite.
The hydroxyapatite (HA) is produced according to a technique developed by Ghimas, it has structural, dimensional and biofunctional characteristics that replicate those of the natural hydroxyapatite present in the dentin, cementum and bone tissues.
This non-absorbable biomimetic nanohydroxyapatite bonds with the components of the bone tissue, cementum and dentin forming a layer of new dentinal tissue, particularly useful for treating periodontal defects. From the biocompatibility studies it was shown that the active nano hydroxyapatite when used as a space maintainer is less phlogistic than normal hydroxyapatite and to induce greater quantities of bone alkaline phosphatase and osteocalcin, indicators of increased bone production.
